Privacy

The essentials first

This site uses no analytics or advertising services. It loads nothing from other servers, no fonts, maps or videos, and sets no cookies while you read. We only process data about you when you send us something: a question, a registration for an event or a newsletter sign-up.

Getting in touch with a church can say something about a person’s religious beliefs. The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives such information special protection (Art. 9). That is why every form asks for your consent, and why we pass nothing on to third parties.

Hosting and server logs

The site runs on servers of IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. IONOS processes the data on our behalf (Art. 28 GDPR).

With every request the web server automatically records: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the amount of data transferred, the page you came from and your browser’s identifier. We need this to run the site securely and to detect attacks (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). IONOS deletes these logs after about eight weeks.

To stop anyone from misusing the forms on a large scale, the site keeps a checksum of your IP address for a short time, at most two hours, after you send a form. It also keeps, for one day, a checksum of any email address it sends a confirmation to, so nobody can flood other people's mailboxes. The key of these checksums changes daily; the addresses themselves are not stored.

Cookies

We set no cookies while you read the site. Only the login area of the church leadership uses a technically necessary session cookie.

Contact form

When you send us a question, we store your question, your name, your email address and, if you give it, your phone number. We forward the request to the mailbox info@anker-gemeinde.org in order to answer you.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) and Art. 9 (2) (a) GDPR). We delete the request from our database after 90 days. We keep the email in our mailbox only as long as we need it for our conversation with you.

Registering for events

For a registration we store your name, your email address, the number of people and, if you give them, your phone number and a message. The registration is only valid once you confirm the link in our email; unconfirmed registrations are deleted after 7 days. We use this to plan the event, to confirm your registration and to reach you if anything changes. Only the church leadership sees the list of registrations; it also receives each registration with the list by email at info@anker-gemeinde.org.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) and Art. 9 (2) (a) GDPR). We delete the registration from our database 30 days after the event.

Newsletter

For the newsletter we store your email address and the language you want to read it in. You are only subscribed once you click the link in the confirmation email (double opt-in). We store the time of your confirmation as proof. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 7 days.

Every newsletter email contains a link to unsubscribe; one click on the button there unsubscribes you immediately, and many mail programs can do it directly. We then delete your address. We do not track whether or when you open an email or click a link in it.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) and Art. 9 (2) (a) GDPR).

Emails from us

We send our emails through the mail servers of IONOS. They are encrypted in transit if your provider’s mail server supports it.

Links to other sites

Links to other sites, for example to the Bible online, the Evangelical Alliance or Patreon, are plain links. Only when you click one do you reach the other site, where its own privacy policy applies. We do not pass on which of our pages you came from.

Your rights

You can ask at any time what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, have its processing restricted, receive it in a common format and object to its processing (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3) GDPR). An email to info@anker-gemeinde.org is enough.

You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the Independent Centre for Privacy Protection Schleswig-Holstein (ULD) in Kiel.
